"Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation." Mark 16:15 is the a comandment for Jesus that we aim to fulfill and teach others.
Our story
In 1996, Courts of Praise Church began meeting in the home of John and Betty Varner. The desire to see a move of the Holy Ghost come to the Elmore County area had been in their hearts for many years. The church outgrew the Varner home and met in various temporary locations before settling in its current Coosada Parkway location. Today, Apostle John Varner serves Courts of Parise Church as the Apostolic oversight – believing for and seeking a continual outpouring of the Holy Ghost over Elmore County, Alabama, and the nations.
Our Pastors
Bishops Beau and Rachel Barton have dedicated their lives to seeking and serving the Lord. Beau was raised in Montgomery, AL, and Rachel was raised in Billingsly, AL. They met at Daystar Family Church in Tuscaloosa in 1998, where they were discipled by Bishop Pat Shatzline, who is still their spiritual father today.
In 2000, the Bartons moved to the rural mountains of Mexico, where they served as missionaries for more than 20 years and where they still have work today. In 2020, the Lord called the Bartons back to Alabama to partner with Him in seeing His Spirit poured out in Alabama. Their heart is to train and teach the sons and daughters of God to walk in the fullness of their identity in Christ so they can be sent out to take the nations for Jesus.
The Bartons have 8 kids, 3 kids-in-love, and are (im)patiently waiting for a host of grandkids! They are also honored to have many spiritual sons and daughters spread throughout the world.
